Learning to sew!

So, my loving boyfriend got me a sewing machine for our anniversary a few weeks ago! Ever since, I have pinning tons of sewing tutorials and ideas! Check out my sewing center pin board here!

I came across this pin from www.inspirationrealisation.com.

I fell in love with this adorable idea! So, Since it is Christmas I decided to try this idea out as a Christmas Gift for a family member!

It seemed simple enough. All I had to do was cut the back of the t-shirt and sew in some sheer black fabric! I love the way it turned out! I didn't have and black silk, like the example above, so I just used what I had left over of the sheer fabric. I also folded back the sheer fabric and made a seam around the bottom, because I was worried that it would fray when washed!  It turned out just as cute!

The purple t-shirt I got from Kohls Clearance section for $2.20!!! It was a steal!
I got the black sheer fabric from jo-ann. I got about 1/2 yard. After making this shirt  I still have enough left to make another!

Cute ideas: I saw black sheer fabric at Jo-ann that was embellished with little silver glitter bows every inch or so.. I think that would be really cute on a shirt like this to give it more of a wow factor! I'll be watching it to see when it goes on sale!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!!
